Cafe No9 welcomes folk guitarist and singer-songwriter David Ian Roberts and instrumental guitarist Nick Jonah Davis for a joint headline show in an intimate setting.

David Ian Roberts

While always connected in spirit to the work of the great 20th century folk guitarists and singer-songwriters, with influences such as Nick Drake and Elliott Smith, David Ian Roberts' recorded music is continually evolving, and explores complex harmony and wide sonic landscapes. At times highly composed, and at others incorporating improvisation and collaboration, his songs can always be traced back to the solo guitar and vocal performance.

David is touring the UK in 2024 in support of his self-titled 5th full-length album, released March 15th on Cambrian Records.

"A quiet masterpiece - one of the albums that I'll cherish in the future" Mark Radcliffe - BBC Radio 2 (From The Harbour)

"Beautiful and very hypnotic - I love its freedom and its ease" Guy Garvey - BBC 6Music

"A quietly exceptional album...Roberts writes deeply introspective songs and renders them in rich orchestrated widescreen." UNCUT (Travelling Bright)

"An instant classic" FolkRadioUK

"An intimate performance of astounding artistry. Lyrically his songs draw a line from Dylan Thomas to Elliott Smith, with hypnotic melodies and guitar patterns that match even the legacies of a Nick Drake or Sufjan Stevens" Gareth Thompson - RnR (Live at Green Note)
