This is the second of our two 2024 Summer Sing weekends, our signature group singing courses that take place on the hilly outer-edges of Sheffield. The course is focused on big group singing, learning some great harmony songs and enjoying ourselves. Well eat delicious home cooked food, enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings and experience the joy of singing together.
What well be doing
We invite singers of all abilities to stretch themselves, discover something new, gain more confidence and, most importantly, have a lot of fun. We have been running singing weekends and week-long courses over the past decade and they are incredibly popular. With well-being, good food and a friendly approach at the centre of the weekend, participants should expect to sing lots within the safety and big sound of a group. We never ask anyone to sing on their own and aim for everyone (however experienced or not) to get something out of the workshop. Songs are taught by ear, with lyric sheets where needed. The material will be in three part harmony and the songs will be from our Lady Maisery repertoire or other songs were excited to share!
Each singing weekend is a little different and on our summer sings we focusing on the pure joy of singing in a big group! The weekend will include activities such as: thorough physical, breathing and vocal warm ups, learning rounds and simple songs, learning some bigger more complex group songs in glorious three part harmony and having a go at improvisation in an inspiring and supportive atmosphere. Repertoire is usually a mix of Lady Maisery songs and some exciting new things too!
Rough schedule
Well meet on Friday night for some informal singing, and well finish with tea and cake at 3pm on Sunday. We start at 10am on Saturday and Sunday, and on Saturday night we'll have a feast together, followed by an 'open-stage' where participants can get up to share a song, a poem, a turn of some kind - this is always a highlight of the weekend. We will send a more detailed timetable nearer the time of the course
Venue
The venue is the Underbank School Room, a beautiful hall with stunning views of the Loxley valley where we have run many singing courses before.

Pricing
Price: £180 (+ £12.60 booking fee) incl all teaching and food (Sat lunch + dinner, Sunday lunch). You'll need to find your own accommodation.

Please note that the May 2024 Big Summer Sing will run with the same or similar content as this weekend.
Cancellations
If you should need to cancel your ticket at any time, our policy is that if we can fill the place we can offer you a full refund (we usually have a decent sized waiting list). If its not possible to fill the place, well still issue the refund if its more than a month before the weekend, a half refund if its more than two weeks in advance, but unfortunately we cant offer a refund if its within two weeks of the event and the place cant be filled. The small Wegottickets commission is not refundable.
